We made our yearly trek south of the border to Southerland Farms in New Mexico to visit the pumpkin patch. Though the farm is not exactly picturesque, it's actually situated in a field of dirt, it's a heyday (literally) for toddlers! Cully enjoyed playing in the corn pit, cruising the maize maze and riding on a hayride to select the perfect pumpkin. The "pump" as Cully calls them that he chose this year was a little Charlie Brownish...deformed and rotting. It looked like the perfect candidate for the pumpkin shooters (some kind of air gun that shoots pumpkins at a scarecrow, needless to say this captivated all of the dads). But Cully insisted that this was his perfect pumpkin. And as for Grady, he didn't even know we went to the patch, he slept the whole time! Hey Grady, let's pretend we're going to the pumpkin patch TONIGHT and maybe you'll sleep!

A visit to Crested Butte

I'm going to back up a bit and post a few pictures from our recent trip to Crested Butte. We went up to visit with T, B, Leigh and Will and of course for some fall fishing on the Taylor and Gunnison rivers.

We stopped in Ouray for a swim in the hot springs. Grady thought he was back home in the womb!

Cully and Leigh rode the alligator and the nearby park. Leigh showed Cully the "bumps" which is a dirt track course that they ran around in all morning. After working up a sweat they headed back to Leigh's for a dip in the hot tub. This is where Cully had a life altering experience. He saw a snake! From that moment on he has been seeing snakes everywhere, in his bed, the bath tub on the kitchen floor (noodles that I forgot to clean up) he even eats snake burritos for dinner.
It was a great chance to hang out with family!

So this is blogging...

Okay, okay...fine I'll utilize technology to my advantage. I have two beautiful sons and it's WAY too easy to forget all the fun and funny stuff that goes on in their ever so quickly changing lives. So, with more than one gentle nudge, I've decided to start a blog. Okay now what...? Get started: today Cully, Grady and I along with my cousin Laura and her daughter Lily walked to the fish hatchery to "see the fish jumpin, jumpin" (Cully). But upon our arrival it began raining. Cully was so excited to feed the fish, but we had to dump the whole cup of food in at once and watch a massive feeding frenzy for about 2 seconds because we were getting wet! That's the scoop for today, more to come...you can look forward to some pumpkin patch reminiscing next!
